Shango Meets Asojano On The Way
On this day of Shango’s visit to his parents palace Dada felt uncomfortable . Every time she looked at Shango , she knew he would face great problems in his lifetime. Especially today the day she took him to visit Obatala . Before they reached the palace there was a commotion amongst the crowd outside the palace. There Shango saw a leper man , and the crowd that gathered where chasing him and throwing water at him . Among those in the crowd unknown to Shango was Oggun . Shango let go of his sisters hand and ran toward the leper in dispear, He felt compelled to protect this leper man as he had known him before . The leper, was Known as no other than Osain in his other phase of being, known as the Orisa Asojano. Shango bolted into the crowd and took the leper in his arms , The royals where all taken by the looks of this strange new face . Shango looked into the lepers eyes , and the leper knew in that instant who this new comer was. Shango took some herbs and rubbed the leper’s body. He had not finished when the boils began to disappear. Those that where there new this young boy was someone special and the news spread fast through out the kingdom. Once Asojano saw that he was clean of pestilence , he threw himself upon the ground at Shango’s feet. The crowd began to murmur “How is this possible?, Asojano is older than he ?” Asojano responded to the crowd ” Yes , I am older in age, but he is older in wisdom” Shango then turned to Oggun , and took his dogs from him and gave them to Asojano saying “Go across the river, on the other side is the land of ARARA ( the land of Dahomey), where you will find your kingdom. You will be respected and needed by all on this planet since you are the King of disease and health, you have a secret life and death, you will be able to cure and make ill, it rests within you that the blood of humans remain clean, you will also be able to send epidemics”. **Asojano took the dogs and did as Shango instructed. Once there he reached his kingdom and he was given Moforibale ( offerings) as King an there he governs even until today.
