One of good and sweet and other , The complete opposite. The strong winds , destroying everything in their path was her jealousy. Oya made sure never to display her jealousy in front of Oba, on the contrary, she was always sweet and kind in front of her. After having won Oba’s trust again, Oya decides to lay her trap and waits for Oba on the road and tells her I was on my way to meet you on the rivers edge but I was running late . Oba replied to her sister , Yes we where waiting for you Oya continued talking The truth us I did not go tot he river because I wanted to talk to you alone , that is why I waited for you here , I want to give you some advise. since I am your sister I must warn you Oba responded with Your advice is welcomed …. Oya knowing her sister would respond starting giving her advice with a sweet tone. Oya knew the love that Oba felt for Shango and how he felt about her as well. She added that he was a handsome man that many of the women of the kingdom wanted him, that regardless of how well her marriage was going sooner or later he would be unfaithful. Oya’s words were untrue as after his marriage to Oba, Shango had been faithful , never looking at another. But since Oba was truly in love with Shango, she fell into Oya’s trap.
Oya went on to say the only way to keep husband and prevent him from looking at another , was to cut of her ear , and prepare it in his favorite food . Oba did not answer her sister, but she thought to herself if this was the only way to keep her husband forever, she would do it. Shango as usual , ate his favorite meal while Oba said to herself that he would be hers for the rest of his life. Meanwhile , she was wearing a Gele ( head scarf used by women ) around her head to hide the imperfection and Phenomenon produced by her cutting off her ear.
