Obatala finds his daughter
Obatala , loved all his children and shared much time with them each on individual visits . One child always caught his attentions and her sweetness always sparked immense love in his heart . From birth he would sing to her at night to lay her head down and sleep .. He would sing till her little eyes closed and he would kiss her brow goodnight . When she was of age she left the Alafin (palace) of Obatala and began her life on her own, Oshun had passed many years away from home and had not returned to visit . And as the years passed , Obatala became more depressed and recluse from the world . Esu convinced Baba to take a walk through the forest to the rivers edge . As he drew closer to the bank of the river , he overheard a sweet voice sing with joyful laughter as he came closer he heard the words of the song … “Sa wa ni ibo eleri, leri’che Ka ni pola” And the memories flooded back into his mind of his daughter and how he sang her to sleep at night . Oshun turned and saw him standing there on the bank and she smiled . Obatala asked her “omo mi” where had you heard this song before? Oshun smiled again and she began to tell him , that as a child her father would sing to her at night and kiss her on her brow. At that instant Baba recognized his “Omo di” and Oshun recognized her father . The reunion of father and daughter brought tears to the Alafin (palace), where they never separated from each other again.
