Chango Learns The Truth
In Dadas Ile , Shango grew stronger and displayed his intelligence and powers. Dada was surprised how Shango had the ability to predict the future. She gave the best education but found it impossible to find something he did not already know. Shango saw Dada as his mother as much as Yemaya, since they both shared in his rearing. He knew what was going on in the kingdom even though nobody told him. Dada took pride in dressing him in red and white clothing. white for the purity of his father Olodumare and red the water that flowed in his veins. Shango had already learned the secrets of Life and of the ICU (dead world) although he did not like Icu very much . He was a expert dancer and knew the oracle of IFA better than any other. One day Dada sat him down and explained to him why he did not live in the palace of Yemaya, as she told him of the errors of Oggun , Shango despised his brothers actions and grew fonder of Laroye . When she had finished the story , Shango swore revenge on Oggun for all the evil he had brought to the kingdom . After Yemayas visit that same day he begged his mother to meet Obatala and his brothers and sisters . He asked so sweetly and with a smile that Yemaya could not resist him so she took Shango to her Palace where Shango met his brother Laroye first. Shango goes on to tell Eleggua Laroye about all he knew about Oggun and the evil ways and how his brother Orula was buried in death . Laroye heard the rancor in Shango’s voice and it was at this time the two Orisa became very close to each other, to the point where they would be known then as Ocanani ( one heart) . In time Laroye tells Shango that Orula is not dead and tells him what he had done for his brother and how Araba was taken care of him . Shango then asks Dada to tell him everything from the beginning up to his birth in the kingdom. Dada complied with his wishes and as she spoke she saw that Shango became more and more furious until fire came out of his eyes . She became afraid for she had never seen this before. It was the hate he felt for Oggun and he swore to make Oggun’s life impossible until the end of time.
